The 2023 AFCON qualifying match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone is set to be a tough encounter, warns Adam Mouktar, the Chairman of Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory Football Association. The match is scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Monrovia, Liberia.

Mouktar advises the Super Eagles to be cautious of the Leone Stars, as they gave a tough fight in the reverse fixture, where the Super Eagles won a hard-fought 2-1 victory at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Abuja on June 9, 2022. Playing on a neutral ground in Monrovia, Mouktar expects the home team to use tactics and antics to win the game, making it crucial for the Super Eagles to be fully prepared.

As the away team, the Super Eagles must put up a serious fight to overcome the Leone Stars and secure their spot in next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Cote D’Ivoire. Guinea Bissau is currently at the top of Group A of the 2023 AFCON Qualifiers, with Nigeria in second position and Sierra Leone in third place. Sao Tome and Principe are at the bottom.

The Super Eagles need to avoid defeat against the Leone Stars in Monrovia to secure their place in the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire, even with a game to spare. Mouktar urges the Super Eagles to take the game with all seriousness and fight hard for a good result. With his advice, the Super Eagles can be confident in their ability to overcome the Leone Stars and book their ticket to the 2023 AFCON.
