Osimhen, Chukwueze among Nigerian players in Europe who could command decent fee in transfer market

Italian giants AC Milan are reportedly determined to bring Nigerian player Samuel Chukwueze to the club, and negotiations with Villarreal are set to begin today for the winger’s transfer to Italy. Sporty9ja reports that AC Milan has identified Chukwueze, who is 24 years old, as a key target to strengthen their right-wing position ahead of the upcoming season.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Chukwueze is getting closer to reaching an agreement with AC Milan, which could make him the sixth Nigerian player in the history of the club to wear the iconic black and red shirt. Previous Nigerian players who have represented AC Milan include Taribo West, Nnamdi Oduamadi, Aliyu Datti, Taye Taiwo, and Kingsley Umunegbu.

Negotiations between the two clubs are set to commence, with Chukwueze already expressing his desire to join AC Milan. However, the main obstacle to the deal is the transfer fee, as AC Milan is not willing to meet Villarreal’s demand of £30 million for the player.

Chukwueze has made 207 appearances for Villarreal, scoring 37 goals and providing 31 assists while wearing the Yellow Submarine jersey. AC Milan has scouted him extensively and believes he would be a perfect fit for their plans in the upcoming season. Milan manager Stefano Pioli sees Chukwueze’s speed and attacking intent as ideal qualities to complement Portugal’s Rafael Leao on the wings for the team.
