In a surprising move, French Ligue 1 team Paris Saint-Germain has secured the signing of Spanish winger Marco Asensio this summer transfer window. Asensio, formerly of Real Madrid, has joined the French champions on a three-year deal.
The 27-year-old Asensio became available after his contract with Los Blancos (the whites) expired. He had been a key player for Real Madrid between the 2013/14 and the 2022/23 seasons.
Paris Saint-Germain took to their Twitter handle to announce the signing, saying, “Paris Saint-Germain are delighted to announce the signing of Marco Asensio. The Spanish forward joins the Parisian club on a three-year deal through to 2026.”
Last season, Asensio showcased his skills in La Liga, scoring nine goals and providing six assists in 31 games. Real Madrid finished second in the league with 78 points from 38 matches, while Paris Saint-Germain accumulated 85 points after 38 games and secured the French League title.
