Bayelsa United Want Rivers United, Lobi Stars Santioned For illegal Possession Of Players

In a recent development in the Nigerian Premier League (NPL), Bayelsa United has lodged a query against rival clubs Rivers United and Lobi Stars for fielding their players in matches without proper authorization. The club specifically mentioned Alex Oyowah, Osagie Onisodumeya, and Taiwo Abdulrafiu in a statement released by the team.

According to Bayelsa United, these players are still under contract with their club and should not have been allowed to play for other teams. The team’s official Twitter handle, managed by Tiebowei Diepreye, voiced the allegation and called attention to the violation of the Npfl‘s rule nine and framework.

In particular, Bayelsa United questioned Rivers United for fielding Alex Oyowah and Osagie Onisodumeya in the Naija Super 8 tournament. The club firmly believes that such actions go against the established regulations of the league.

To address this issue, Bayelsa United has accused Rivers United of breaching rule 9:39:1 and 9:39:2, and is seeking a penalty of N1 million to be awarded in their favor. The club is determined to ensure fair play and uphold the integrity of the league.

It is worth noting that Bayelsa United had a decent performance last season, finishing seventh in the Npfl Group B. With a total of 21 points from 18 matches, the team showed promise and aims to continue their progress in the upcoming season.
