Bayern End PSG’s Champions League Dreams

Paris Saint-Germain’s hopes of winning the UEFA Champions League for the first time since 1995 were dashed after they were knocked out by Bayern Munich in the round of 16. The Ligue 1 side were defeated by a 2-0 scoreline at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday, with Eric Choupo-Moting and Serge Gnabry both finding the back of the net in the second half to send the Bavarians into the quarter-finals.

PSG were unable to turn the tie around, despite having had a promising first leg performance, where they managed to keep a clean sheet in the 0-0 draw at home. It was a case of déjà vu for the French side, who also crashed out of the competition at the same stage last season, with Real Madrid being the team to put an end to their European journey.

In the other round of 16 second-leg fixture, AC Milan were able to hold on to their 1-0 first leg advantage to progress into the quarter-finals, where they will face Manchester United. Tottenham Hotspur, who had the home advantage, were held to a 0-0 draw, but had their cause not been helped by Cristian Romero’s 77th minute red card.

Paris Saint-Germain will now have to regroup and focus on the remainder of the season, with the Ligue 1 title race still on the line. With Bayern Munich advancing to the last eight, the Bavarians will have their sights set on becoming the first team since AC Milan to win the Champions League in consecutive seasons.
