Yesterday, Bendel Insurance maintained their position as Group A leaders of the 2022/23 Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) after a tough 1-0 victory over visiting Nasarawa United. The home side had to show great resilience and determination to see off the challenge of their opponents and secure the win.
The first half of the game saw both sides fail to make an impact on the scoreline, with end-to-end play and chances for both sides. However, it was Bendel Insurance who eventually made the breakthrough in the second half as they took the lead in the 57th minute through a well-taken strike from striker Nnamdi Nwankwo.
Nasarawa United tried to find an equalizer but Bendel Insurance were resolute in their defending and managed to hold out for the win, moving them two points clear at the top of Group A.
Elsewhere in the NPFL, Plateau United continued their impressive form this season with a comprehensive 5-0 victory over El Kanemi Warriors. A hat-trick from striker Sunday Adetunji and two goals from Chukwudi Agbo ensured the hosts picked up a comfortable win and moved up to second place in Group B.
Bendel Insurance will now look to build on their win and continue their push for the title, while Plateau United will hope to continue their good form and challenge for the top spot in Group B. With the NPFL season heating up, it will be interesting to see the battles for the top spot in each group over the coming weeks.
