Chelsea Overcome Borussia Dortmund to Reach Last Eight of the UCL
Chelsea have overturned a one-goal deficit from the first leg to beat Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund 2-1 on aggregate and reach the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.
Raheem Sterling scored the all-important goal two minutes before the break as he fired home from inside the box to level scores on aggregate. Chelsea were then awarded a penalty early in the second half, which Kai Havertz successfully converted to secure the win.
Kepa Arrizabalaga produced a superb save to deny Marius Wolf, while Jude Bellingham also came close for Dortmund. However, Chelsea stood firm in the closing stages of the game to secure a place in the quarter-finals.
The win was a huge boost for Frank Lampard’s side, who will now face either Real Madrid or Liverpool in the next round. The draw for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League will take place on March 19.
The Blues have been in good form recently, having won five of their last six matches in all competitions. With the team continuing to improve and progress, they will be hoping to go all the way and secure the Champions League title this season.
