Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian striker currently plying his trade in the Italian Serie A with Napoli, has been in the headlines of late following his impressive displays over the last year. Osimhen has been rewarded for his form with the prestigious Italy’s Best Foreign Athlete award, the first Nigerian to win the award.

The 22-year-old joined Napoli from Lille in the summer of 2020 for a reported fee of €50 million. He has since gone on to score 12 goals in 28 games for the club, including a hat-trick against Benevento and a brace against Genoa. His form has caught the attention of some of Europe’s top clubs, with Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham all reportedly interested in signing the Nigerian forward.

According to reports, Chelsea are ready to double Osimhen’s current salary at Napoli in an attempt to lure him to Stamford Bridge. The Blues are reportedly willing to offer him a deal worth €5 million per year, which would make him one of the highest-paid Nigerian players in Europe.

The Blues have already made an offer to Napoli for the Nigerian and they are reportedly willing to pay €50 million plus bonuses to secure his services. However, the Italian club are yet to respond to the offer and they may be reluctant to let go of one of their star players.

Manchester United have also been linked with Osimhen, but the Red Devils are not willing to match Chelsea’s offer. Tottenham are also said to be interested in the Nigerian and they may be the club who eventually land him.

Osimhen has been in fine form this season and he has been tipped to become one of the best strikers in Europe over the next few years. His performances have helped Napoli to a top-four finish in Serie A and he has also helped them to the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia.

The Nigerian forward has been in impressive form for his country as well. He scored a brace against Lesotho in their World Cup qualifying match, which saw Nigeria qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Victor Osimhen is a star on the rise and it will be interesting to see which club he chooses to join in the near future. With Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham all interested, it promises to be an exciting transfer saga.
