In a shocking turn of events, Barcelona legend Samuel Eto’o finds himself entangled in a legal battle with his daughter, Erika Do Rosario Nieves. Erika is demanding that her father be sentenced to a year in prison for failing to pay €90,000 in child support, according to Diario Sport.
Last year, the court confirmed that Erika is indeed Samuel’s biological daughter and ordered him to pay a monthly child support fee of €1,400. However, it appears that the former Barca star has not fulfilled this obligation for the past five years, resulting in a staggering debt of 90,000 euros.
Erika’s lawyer, Fernando Osuna, expressed his disappointment, stating, “He owes his daughter more than five years of allowance but continues to defy justice. Erika’s economy is very weak, while Eto’o lives in luxury.”
The situation becomes even more alarming when considering Samuel Eto’o’s position as the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation. Osuna finds it “abnormal” that someone with Eto’o’s criminal records, including accusations of tax fraud in Spain, holds such a high-profile position. He assured that the trial against the former player will take place in Madrid, sooner or later.
Last year, when confronted about the issue, Eto’o callously declared that he doesn’t care about his daughter at all, going as far as saying he wouldn’t even care if she died.
