Rivers United’s head coach, Stanley Eguma, has expressed his delight over his team’s victory against Bendel Insurance, attributing it to a well laid out plan. The Nigeria Premier League title holders defeated Bendel Insurance 2-0 in a matchday four encounter at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos. This win ended Bendel Insurance’s 21-game unbeaten streak in the league.
Eguma, in his post-match interview, stated that his team had a plan going into the game, and the players stuck to it, which gave them the victory. He also commended his boys for playing to instruction, adding that the game was not easy as both teams came out determined to win.
“This is a good win for us. Now we can look forward to the last game with confidence. I hope we maintain the same level of performance and hopefully come out victorious,” he said.
Rivers United is currently topping the standings with eight points from four games. The Port Harcourt club will take on Enyimba in their last game on Sunday.
The victory against Bendel Insurance has further boosted Rivers United’s chances of retaining the Nigeria Premier League title. The team will be hoping to maintain their winning streak when they face Enyimba in their last game.
