NPL Playoffs: We Are Envious Of Bendel Insurance’s Unbeaten Run —Enyimba Forward, Obioma

Enyimba forward Emeka Obioma has expressed envy towards Bendel Insurance’s unbeaten run and admitted that they did everything possible to end it. The two teams met on match-day three of the NPL Super Six playoffs, with Bendel Insurance holding Enyimba to a 1-1 draw. Enyimba took the lead but Insurance equalised, resulting in their third draw of the playoffs.

This was the third encounter between the two teams this season, with Bendel Insurance recording a win and a draw in their previous two fixtures. The draw means that Bendel Insurance are yet to taste defeat this season and have gone 21 games unbeaten.

Speaking after the game, Obioma admitted that Enyimba wanted to end their unbeaten run but acknowledged that “there’s nothing we can do, it is their luck, we just have to keep working.” He also stated that though their target was to secure the three points, they are satisfied with the draw.

“We knew it wasn’t going to be easy, it was a good game we fought very well and at the end it ended 1-1. We thank God for the draw but not that it’s what we wanted, we wanted the three points but there’s nothing we can do, we just have to keep working and keep fighting until we get what we want.”
