The Nigerian Flying Eagles were unable to secure a victory in their semi-final match of the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, losing 0-1 to their Gambian counterparts on Monday.

The match, which was held at the Cairo International Stadium, saw the Nigerian team dominate the possession with 62 per cent, while the Gambians had 38 per cent. Despite this, the Nigerian team was unable to score a goal and the Gambians secured a victory with a single goal late in the second half.

The Nigerian team seemed to be on top for the most part of the game, creating several chances but failing to convert any of them into goals. The Gambian team, on the other hand, was able to capitalize on their few chances, with their lone goal coming in the 86th minute, which ultimately ended the match in their favor.

This loss marks the end of the Nigerian Flying Eagles’ campaign in the tournament, as they were unable to make it to the final. The Gambians will now face their North African rivals, Tunisia, in the final of the tournament, who were able to beat the Cote d’Ivoire in the other semi-final match.

This loss is surely a disappointment for the Nigerian team, who had come into the tournament as one of the favorites. Although they were able to win all their group stage matches, they ultimately failed to make it to the final.

Nevertheless, this defeat should serve as a lesson for the Nigerian team, and will hopefully help them to learn from their mistakes and come back stronger in future tournaments.
