Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo has been named in the Saudi Arabia Professional Football League Team of the Season. The Best X1 of the 2022/23 season was announced by the Saudi League body on Wednesday, and Ighalo was the only Al Hilal player to make the selection.
Ighalo scored 19 goals for Al Hilal this season, who were dethroned as league champions by Al Ittihad. The 33-year-old also made the team last season after helping Al Hilal win the title, contributing 24 goals during that campaign.
Despite being a star player, Al Nassr’s Cristiano Ronaldo was not included in the team. Ighalo, on the other hand, has already quit the Blue Waves following the expiration of his contract.
This recognition by the Saudi League body is a testament to Ighalo’s impressive performance this season. Fans of the Nigerian striker will be pleased to see him recognized for his hard work and dedication to the sport.
