Erik ten Hag is ready for the challenge of taking Manchester United to Anfield to face Liverpool on Sunday, as the Red Devils look to keep their slim title hopes alive. Ten Hag is confident that his side can cope with the hostile atmosphere of the Merseyside Stadium, and believes his team have the strength of character to get the result they so desperately need.
The Dutchman is aware of the threat Liverpool pose, but is confident his side have the quality to come away with a win. “We know it’s going to be difficult, we know we will have to suffer and we will have to sacrifice to get a good result.” said Ten Hag. “I know these players, my squad, my team, will be prepared to go there and fight and to go there with confidence. We like that.”
Ten Hag’s United are on a high after their League Cup victory last weekend and they will be hoping to make it a double over Liverpool this season. Ten Hag is eager to make sure his side don’t get complacent and remain focused on the task at hand. “We have to play and to make it our game,” said the Dutchman. “Of course we know the ambience will not be supporting us and you have to deal with that. But our players, they like it. They like to play in such atmospheres.”
With a win, United could move to within three points of Arsenal at the top of the Premier League, while a defeat could give Liverpool a chance to close the gap with the top four. Ten Hag is confident his side can come away with the win, and with their strong mentality and fearless approach, they are more than capable of getting the job done.
