After committing to a new long-term deal, Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli has urged his teammate Bukayo Saka to follow his lead and sign a new contract with the club. Saka has been locked in talks with the Gunners over a new deal and reports suggest that an agreement is close to being reached.
Martinelli recently expressed his desire to see Saka extend his stay at the club. Speaking to football.london, Martinelli said “I will be happy because he is a very, very good player, one of the best young players in the world. Arsenal is his home and for sure he is happy. And we will be happy as well if he stays and signs a new deal.”
The Brazilian ace added: “Yeah, we always have some jokes [convincing him to stay] – me, him and [William] Saliba. But it’s up to him. But he will stay for sure. He loves the club”
Saka has been one of the standout players for Arsenal this season, having scored three goals and provided seven assists in the Premier League. His performances have drawn interest from a number of top clubs across Europe, making it even more important for the Gunners to secure his future.
It will be interesting to see if Saka follows in Martinelli’s footsteps and signs a new contract with the club. With his current deal set to expire in 2022, the club will be desperate to tie him down to a long-term deal as soon as possible.
