Enyimba’s Finidi George Reflects on Naija Super Eight Playoffs Victory Over Heartland

Enyimba head coach Finidi George expressed mixed feelings after his team’s victory over Heartland at the Eket Township Stadium on Saturday night during the Naija Super Eight playoffs. Murphy Ndukwu scored the winning goal for the Nigeria Premier League champions on 24 minutes.

Finidi, a former Nigerian international, acknowledged the difficulty of the game and expressed his happiness about the win but was not impressed with the team’s performance in the second half. “We were lucky they didn’t get an equalizer,” he said.

Enyimba will represent the South-East Zone at the Naija Super Eight finals in Lagos. Lobi Stars, Remo Stars, and Yobe Stars have also qualified for the competition. Lobi Stars defeated City FC 4-3 on penalties after playing out a 2-2 draw on Friday, while Remo Stars beat Shooting Stars 3-0, and Yobe Stars overcame Gombe Stars 2-1.

The remaining teams will secure their place in the Super Eight tournament on Sunday, and the tournament will be held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos from July 7 to July 16.
