Napoli’s star striker Victor Osimhen is set to work with a new coach, Rudi Garcia, after the Frenchman was hired to replace Luciano Spalletti. The announcement was made on Napoli’s official website on Thursday, and the Serie A champions expressed their delight in welcoming Garcia to the team.
Having previously coached Roma between 2013 and 2016, Garcia is no stranger to Serie A. He won 61 of his 118 games in charge of the club, drawing 34 and losing 23. The Giallorossi sacked him in January 2016, bringing in Spalletti.
With his appointment at Napoli, Garcia ends Aurelio De Laurentiis’ long search for Spalletti’s successor. Reports in Italy and France had suggested that another Frenchman, Christophe Galtier, was the leading candidate for the role.
Garcia, who left Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr FC in April, has also coached Olympique Marseille and Lyon. With his vast experience in top-flight football, Napoli will undoubtedly benefit from his tactical acumen and expertise.
As Osimhen continues to hone his skills on the pitch, he will undoubtedly be looking to his new coach for guidance and support. With Garcia at the helm, Napoli will undoubtedly be a force to be reckoned with in the upcoming season.
