Napoli have completed a permanent deal for Argentine striker Giovanni Simeone, ahead of a potential departure of Nigerian superstar Victor Osimhen. While Osimhen has been linked with several top clubs around the world, Napoli would demand at least €150million for the deal to happen. With the risk of losing their star striker, the Italian Serie A champions have made plans to ensure his departure is not felt. The club have officially signed Simeone from Hellas Verona for €12million, after the 24-year-old forward spent last season on loan at Napoli. Simeone registered nine goals and one assist in 33 appearances, playing second fiddle to Osimhen for most of the season. However, with the Nigerian’s likely exit, Simeone may become the main man for the Partenopeans. Napoli fans will be hoping that the club’s contingency plan pays off, as they aim to defend their Serie A title in the upcoming season.
