Cyriel Dessers joins Rangers FC

Rangers FC have made a significant signing ahead of the 2023/24 season, bringing in 28-year-old striker Cyriel Dessers from U.S Cremonese. The Nigerian international becomes manager Michael Beale’s sixth summer transfer window signing, adding valuable experience to the squad.

Dessers, who was born in Belgium, has played in top leagues across Europe, gaining a wealth of knowledge and expertise. He has had stints in the Belgian Pro-League with OH Leuven, Lokeren, and Genk, as well as experiencing Dutch football at the highest level with Utrecht, Heracles Almelo, and Feyenoord. Last season, he showcased his skills in Serie A for U.S Cremonese.

During his time at Feyenoord in the 2021/22 season, Dessers was the top goalscorer in the UEFA Europa Conference League, netting an impressive 10 goals. His outstanding performances earned him a place in the competition’s team of the season.

Expressing his excitement upon joining Rangers, Dessers said, “I am really happy, it is a big relief to finally be here. There have been some long days and some stressful days, but it is a great feeling to finally be here. The history of the club, the fans, the stadium, it’s massive but next to that I look at what is here at this moment. I had really good talks with Michael Beale about his plans, the ideas of what he wants on and off the pitch, and I thought that could be a really good fit for me and for the team, so I am happy to be here.”

Manager Michael Beale expressed his delight at securing Dessers’ signature, highlighting his experience and qualities. “We are delighted to have Cyriel joining our club.
