Barcelona midfielder Pedri has been ruled out of their upcoming Laliga match against Athletic Bilbao due to a calf injury. The 20-year-old sustained the injury during the Europa League first leg 2-2 draw on February 16th against Manchester United at Camp Nou.
The Catalan giants have confirmed that Pedri will miss Sunday’s clash with Athletic Club, but are optimistic that he will be ready for their upcoming match against Real Madrid on February 19th. The promising midfielder has been in fine form this season, netting six times in 21 Laliga games.
This setback could be a major blow to Barcelona’s chances of clinching the Laliga title this season, as they currently sit atop the table with 62 points from 24 matches. With Pedri out of action, the onus will be on the likes of Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann to step up and lead Barcelona to victory.
It will be interesting to see how Barcelona cope without Pedri against Athletic Bilbao, and whether they can maintain their lead at the top of the table. Be sure to tune in and find out!
