“I’m unsure” – Super Eagles goalie on resemblance with Chelsea target

Adebayo Adeleye, the Super Eagles goalkeeper, has been making headlines recently due to his striking resemblance to Andre Onana, the Inter Milan goalkeeper. However, Adeleye has insisted that he is not like Onana and that he has his own unique playing style.

Adeleye is currently playing for Hapoel Jerusalem in Israel and has been in impressive form, recording eight clean sheets in just 20 games. Despite conceding 20 goals, his performances have been enough to earn him a recall to the Super Eagles squad for the first time since October 2019.

Speaking to Soccernet.ng, Adeleye expressed his happiness at being back in national team action, saying, “I feel good, I feel honoured, I’m grateful to Almighty God, I’m happy to be back.”

However, despite the comparisons to Onana, Adeleye insists that he is his own player and that he has his own unique style. “They say I look like Andre Onana, but I don’t know, I play my own way and he plays his own way as well. They say we are similar but I’m not so sure,” he said.

With Francis Uzoho currently absent, Adeleye is expected to take on the role of first-choice goalkeeper for Nigeria. He is currently the highest-rated goalkeeper in the squad and will be hoping to make a strong impression in the upcoming matches.

Overall, while the comparisons between Adeleye and Onana may be striking, it is clear that Adeleye is determined to make his own mark on the game and establish himself as a top-class goalkeeper in his own right. It will be interesting to see how he performs in the upcoming matches and whether he can continue to impress both domestically and internationally.
