Peter Rufai Urges Flying Eagles to Redeem Their Image With Third-Place Win in 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations
Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Peter Rufai has called on the Nigeria U-20 team, the Flying Eagles to redeem their image with a win in the Third-Place match against Tunisia in the 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations. The seven-time champions lost 1-0 to Gambia in the semi final on Monday, thanks to an early goal by Adama Bojang.
Rufai, who was part of the victorious 1994 Africa Cup of Nations team, has urged the Flying Eagles to remain focused and determined to win the Third-Place match against Tunisia. He believes that the only way for the team to redeem their image is to win the Bronze medal at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
In his words, “I don’t think it will be ideal for the players to be blaming themselves for the mistakes that cost them the game against Gambia. Mistakes are bound to happen in football. What should be their major focus at this point is how the team will beat Tunisia in the Third-Place match. That’s the only way they can redeem their image.”
The Flying Eagles will face Tunisia in the Third-Place match on March 8, 2023 in Cairo, Egypt. This will be a great opportunity for the Nigerian team to win the Bronze medal and redeem their image.
It is now up to the players to put in their best performance and ensure that they win the Bronze medal. It will be a great accomplishment for the team, especially if they are able to redeem their image by winning the Third-Place match.
